Based on our findings today we can supportively treat for vomiting and a possible Canine infectious respiratory complex vs. beginning secondary bronchial pneumonia infection.
If he does not improve by outpatient medical management recommend considering an abdominal ultrasound for further evaluation of GI, as well as repeat radiographs to evaluate lung changes and response to antibiotic treatment.
Treatments provided at hospital:
SQ fluid administration of LRS -600 mL Cerenia injection 1 mg/kg
Prescribed medications to go home:
Cerenia 60 mg box of 4 give 1 orally once daily starting 24 hours post Cerenia injection at hospital to prevent vomitin
Hydrocodone 5 mg give 2 tablets orally every 6 hours to help control cough
Enrofloxacin 136 mg give 1 tablet orally every 24 hours until gone
Fortiflora packets -give 1 orally every 24 hours to help support microbiome during antibiotic administration and gastritis/gastroenteritis.
